Opentrons App

You operate an OT-2 through the Opentrons App. This chapter describes how to download and use the app to perform fundamental tasks like uploading protocol files, running and managing protocols, controlling hardware, and other features.

• Start with Installing the App for information on system requirements, download links, and installation instructions.

• When you're ready to put the OT-2 to work, see Importing Protocols and Running Protocols. Those sections provide step-by-step instructions on how to upload a protocol and run it on the robot.

• The Opentrons App can do more than import and run protocols. See the App Features Summary for a reference guide to other functions that help you interact with the robot, along with descriptions of other selected basic or advanced settings.

Note

While the Opentrons App lets you control the robot and run automated protocols, this software does not create protocols. To create a protocol, you'll use the Opentrons Protocol Designer. You can also create protocols with the Opentrons Python API or the OpentronsAI.
